During a church service on January 15, 2006, the words of the familiar verse from Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God," began to slowly unfold in my heart one word and phrase at a time. The impact was amazing as each word, and then each phrase, revealed more and more depth to that verse. On the way home from church a melody began to take shape around those words in my mind, and that afternoon the basic song came together. Two days later as I was singing over it again, I began to hear and sing some additional words at the end of the song through which the Lord brought the heart of the message full circle. A couple of weeks later I shared the song with some friends we were visiting who are also worship leaders. That Sunday morning at their church I was asked to do an impromptu version of my new song following their regular worship music service. The song's impact was amazing, and it was obvious that the words and music tapped into an overwhelming need and desire of God's people to enter into that deep place of resting in Him and His sovereign hand over their lives. Less than two weeks later we were personally challenged ourselves to trust God's sovereign hand in our lives following job losses and ministry transitions. God was preparing us ahead of time with the gift of this song. We pray it will help you focus and re-center your heart and spirit on the God of all creation, the Father Who holds your life in His hand as surely as He holds the universe itself together at this moment. Comments from Jay N. in Texas: "I will never forget the night Ron played "Be Still And Know" for me in the studio. I think it was the day that Kim and Brenda had added their angelic voices to the original cut. I got "God-bumps" all over my body! It brought tears to my eyes. I still get moved when I listen to it.... Your music seems to always touch my soul in just the right place... and at just the right moment."
